The Story Radius 2025 Movie Invitation Tournament: And the Winner Is…

This March, the 2025 Story Radius Movie Invitation Tournament (MIT) tipped off with 32 nominated films across four genre brackets:

  • Comedy & Animation

  • Drama

  • Sci-Fi, Fantasy, & Adventure

  • Faith Snubbed – a special bracket featuring top faith-based films overlooked in the PluggedIn Christian Movie Madness poll.

Over the past two weeks, as an alternative to March Madness basketball, hundreds of fans voted for their all-time favorite films for Christian audiences.

After a mix of blowouts and nail-biters, the Round of Four emerged as the champions of their respective genre brackets:

  • Faith Snubbed: The Blind Side

  • Animation or Comedy: Finding Nemo

  • Drama: Hacksaw Ridge

  • Sci-Fi, Fantasy, or Adventure: Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark & The Last Crusade

In the Final Battle, it was the fish vs. the fedora — Finding Nemo versus Indiana Jones.

Ultimately, Indy proved too iconic, scoring a decisive victory over Nemo and claiming the title of:

“Best Movie of All Time for Christian Audiences”
(or as we like to call it, “The Best Non-Christian, Christian Movie of All Time!”)

Road to Victory

Indiana Jones’ path to the crown wasn’t easy. The adventurer had to battle through an intense bracket, knocking out the #1-seeded Lord of the Rings Trilogy and then edging out Hacksaw Ridge in a buzzer-beater thriller to reach the finals.

Meanwhile, Hacksaw Ridge pulled off a Cinderella run of its own — entering as a #4 seed and taking down both #1 The Green Mile and #2 The Truman Show before its clash with Indy.

Notable Highlights:

  • Two films by Christian screenwriter Andrew Stanton cracked the Top 20:

    • #2 Finding Nemo

    • #6 WALL-E

  • Jim Carrey had a strong showing with two movies in the Top 20:

    • #8 The Truman Show

    • #11 Bruce Almighty
